“Hello Role Players, and welcome to The Weekly Encounter newsletter!”

One of the great superpowers of role playing games is their ability to enable us to participate in a wide variety of experiences. In contrast to more traditional video games, role playing games have a particularly large variety of non-violent play experiences. We continually see creators releasing projects centered around cooperation, compassion, and empathy. These games gives players an avenue to experience situations they may not often come across in their day-to-day lives and a place to learn how to relate to people of different backgrounds and life circumstances. This week we are highlighting creators and games that bring compassion and empathy to the forefront of their experience. Enjoy and as always…

You can play with us!

This week we’re highlighting some great games that focus on compassion & cooperation.

Play

Capybara Capers from Momatoes offers a smooth, seamless tabletop RPG experience for playing a criminal critter, with mechanics for sharing trust, escalating rolls, and even individual win conditions. Ideal for 3-6 players, plus a Game Master! We can confirm it’s exceptionally cute and it’s available on Itch right now and would play seamlessly on role.

Moose Trip is a game designed by Kira Magrann in which each player becomes a moose who is about to embark on a magical psychedelic journey, one in which the streams are cooling, the willows ripe with delicious leaves, and soft orange moss dots granite rocks amid grassy fields. You and pick it up on itch and play it on Role in just a matter of minutes.
